Motivational Speaking

Seán has, to quote the British 20th century poet Rudyard Kipling, experienced “both Triumph and Disaster” in his personal and professional life and has treated “those two impostors just the same.” He believes in challenging himself mentally and physically and has had to endure setbacks as well as the negativity of those who’ve said: “You’ll never make it.” Seán is proof that, despite this, you can fail and then succeed as well as enjoy and be enriched by the rollercoaster journey along the way.

He can speak about how to overcome personal and professional setbacks and achieve goals and dreams having:

  • Become a member of the high IQ society Mensa after being told at school that he was, at best, “just average” and flunking some of his exams
  • Become a junior international athlete after his athletics teacher dismissed his dreams
  • Become the UK’s youngest ever national TV news reporter, aged just 21, and winning a top award after being told by his journalism lecturer that he might not make it in the profession
  • Only just cheating death while taking on the challenge of a mountaineering expedition which was beyond his level of experience and technical ability

Seán is a member of the Professional Speakers Association and a prize-winning speaking member of Toastmasters International. He is also a business and after dinner speaker. He has worked with many private and public sector organisations, including IBM, Shell, Barclaycard, Astra Zeneca, Bank of Scotland, Safeway, National & Alamo Car Rental, the Department of Education and the UK Public Record Office.
