In the Snow

London has ground to a halt due to the worst snow in 18 years. A huge number of people are resisting the burning temptation to trudge into work, Arctic explorer like, and decide to stay at home and/or go out and play in the snow as if they were kids again.

And do you know what: the adverse weather conditions, where buses and underground and over ground trains have all but stopped running have made people, particularly in London, actually slow down. They not only have more time for themselves, but for other people. By playing in the snow, building snowmen and having snowball fights, they’ve let their inner child and sense of playfulness come out again...after far too long.

But, above all, people are being more open and friendly and are getting to know people they’ve always had the chance to get to know, but never have...because it’s not want the British do, you know. Thanks to the snow, people have rediscovered latent communication skills and, because of the effect they’re having on people, are enjoying it. There’s a lot to be said for actually saying the lot that’s got to be said.
