Back from honeymoon

My wife Sally and I are now back from an amazing and packed 3 week adventure in Argentina and Chile. It was a magnificent honeymoon.

We galloped across the pampas at an estancia near Buenos Aires, stood over the Iguazu Falls, walked up mountains in Torres del Paine, , lived in an Eco yurt in the middle of Patagonia (complete with compost toilet), went to a penguin colony off the world's southernmost city/town, ate awesomely mouth watering steaks (a lot!) and met some wonderful people along the way.

One had been a teacher who told how she lived in fear for 6 years during Argentina's "Dirty War" when an estimated 30,000 people disappeared. They were kidnapped, tortured, raped and murdered and left somewhere they'd never be found. During this time, she found herself sitting on a bomb one day which had been left underneath her toilet in the ladies loo in the Engeering College in Buenos Aires. She recalled being immensely ill at ease for two reasons: firstly, the thought of the bomb going off if she did something wrong and, secondly, the fact that government soldiers burst into the loo before she had had a chance to put her knickers back on!

Then there were Doug and Allyson from New York who are about to leave their life there for the hugely contrasting New Zealand to help a friend establish a chain of gyms there.

And now we're back in Blighty. What a contrast.
